How We Started

Information St. Louis, Inc. has been incorporated since 2006. However, its roots can be traced back to the late 1990s when the founder, John Williams, started studying Internet marketing and how it applied to his real estate business.

At that time, John was recognized as a top real estate agent in the St. Louis metropolitan area. He was regularly listed in the St. Louis business Journal’s list of top selling residential agents. At that time, John used a number of traditional media such as newspapers, direct mail, magazine, cable, signage and more to promote his business. In 2000 John made the strategic decision to place the majority of his marketing focus on the Internet. By 2001 John, had multiple websites working and delivering his real estate team hundreds of bona fide real estate inquiries a month. In fact, a majority of his business was coming from his Internet marketing efforts.

In 2003 John recognized there were fundamental changes in consumer behavior occuring that he believed had the potential to affect a number of businesses. The consumer use of the Internet was continuing to grow and John felt Internet usage would one day challenge newspapers, television and radio for the consumer’s attention. He also believed that the Internet would become "local". Consumers would eventually use the Internet for local searches. Fast forward to today and you can definitely see that the Internet has transformed the news, information, and advertising landscape.

Today John is joined by Dennis Norman, who brings his years of expericience as a successful businessman and entrepreneur. Similar to John, Dennis has a background in real estate. Dennis…

About me…

I did not plan to make a career of real estate nor start a real estate company…it was meant to be a temporary stint at the age of 18.  However it proved to be more than temporary and in addition to providing me with a comfortable living it did many things for me: I met and established relationships with many great people, experienced and learned how to deal with the challenges small and growing businesses face, it exposed me to politics and got me interested in becoming active politically and working to protect my industry from bad legislation and promote good legislation and it helped me grow personally as well through many experiences and situations, some good, some bad.

I did plan to be in the internet marketing & communication business however.  Not only did I plan it, I dreamed about it…for about 15 years or so.  So did I know back then I would be doing exactly what I’m doing now? No.  What I did know is I have an insatiable appetite for learning new things and am a technology junkie.  For years I have used technology to help streamline my business and make it and myself more productive.  Over the years I also developed an obsession of sorts with marketing and branding.  A lot of my knowledge in this area came through experience (translation I wasted lots of money to find out what DOESN’T work).  Therefore when my best friend John Williams approached me with the idea of working together to build an internet-based marketing company I realized this was it!  Finally an opportunity to use my experience, knowledge and talent to pursue the dream I’ve had for so long.
